My recipe for duck in tamarind sauce

Duck Breast in Tamarind Sauce - Ped Yang Makam This dish was inspired by a visit to one of my favourite Thai restaurants, Lanna Thai in Canterbury. I loved it so much I had to work out how to recreate it at home. After much trial and error I believe I have perfected it. I hope you enjoy it as much as me. You will need: 2 Duck breasts with the skin on 2 banana shallots 2 spring onions for the marinade 1 star anise 2-3cm cinnamon stick 1tbsp coriander seeds 1 garlic clove 2 thai shallots 1 tbsp fish sauce 1 tbsp Chinese rice wine Put all the ingredients into a pestle and mortar and work into a paste. Slow cooker home made doner kebab

This is a perfect Friday night dinner. I'm still enjoying my Friday nights at the pub whilst I am healthy eating, you have to have a little treat, and this cooks in the slow cooker whilst you're there - perfect! According to the Daily Mail, a takeaway Doner Kebab can contain anywhere between 1000 and 2000 calories, mine only has 551! Smoked Salmon and Watercress Quiche This time last week I was watching Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers and he cooked this recipe. The next day I was in the supermarket and they happened to have cooked smoked salmon fillets reduced. So I grabbed them. With a glut of eggs from our slow starting chickens, I've been searching out recipes to use them up and this seemed better than fate! Nigel Slater's recipe can be found here . So I set out to make this recipe, knowing I had everything I needed. Or so I thought... When I went to grab the flour, I found I had 3 bags of self raising and no plain.
