Restaurant Review: Bangkok House, Canterbury

I really love Lanna Thai in Canterbury, but this weekend it was closed, so I decided to give Bangkok House a go instead.

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with lots of Thai carvings, in fact all the tables have an intricate carved top covered with glass.

We started with the Bangkok Delight mixed starters, which had the usual chicken satay, spring rolls and fish cakes but also had beef satay, prawns in filo pastry and really nice chicken wings, which had been boned and stuffed with minced prawn and glass noodles.  The best bit was that we were both given individual dipping sauces so there was no fighting over the satay sauce.
Cold Singha Beer, must have with Thai food

For our main course we ordered,

  • Ped Makham (roast duck with tamarind sauce)
  • Goong Sam Rot (battered prawns in a sweet and sour sauce)
  • Mosaman Curry (beef and potato curry with a mild coconut sauce)
  • Pad Thai Noodles
  • Jasmine Rice
  • and all washed down with a cold Singha
Overall the food was really fantastic and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
